Abstract
This study examines the role of the “Constructive Mosque” (Masjid-e Sazandeh) in realizing governance based on Islamic Awakening through the statements of Martyr Qassem Soleimani. Since the rise of Islam, the mosque has served as a central institution in the formation, preservation, and advancement of Islamic governance.Accordingly, identifying its functions can help recover its capacity for contemporary governance.Using thematic analysis, this research analyzed the available discourse of Martyr Soleimani on the mosque. After coding and categorizing the data, basic, organizing, and global themes were extracted. Among the available materials, his “World Mosque Day” speech was selected as the primary text because it contains the clearest and most concentrated themes related to the subject. The findings show that the “Constructive Mosque,” as the study’s global theme, is an institution capable of renewing Islam and society in accordance with the aims of the Islamic Awakening. Its governing functions can be summarized in four major dimensions: first, promoting unity and Ummah-building as the basis for a cohesive Islamic nation; second, revitalizing religious identity and values in order to strengthen the public presence of religion; third, providing civilizational immunity and cadre-building through the attraction and formation of committed and aware forces; and fourth, securing society and defending ideals by nurturing defenders against falsehood. In Soleimani’s thought, the mosque is therefore a strategic institution linking religion, society, and politics and enabling the realization of desirable Islamic governance.
