Pages 1-21

hossein karimifard

Abstract This article examines the strategic alignment of the United States and religious fundamentalism from 2011 to 2024 and its impact on the Islamic Awakening, emphasizing the strategic use of these seemingly contradictory alliances to achieve geopolitical goals. How did these alignments lead to the removal of Assad in Syria and the re-establishment of the Taliban in Afghanistan? (Problem Statement) What impact has the alignment between the United States and religious fundamentalist groups (with an emphasis on the rise of Golani in Syria and the Taliban in Afghanistan) had on the Islamic Awakening? (Question) The hypothesis of this article, which has been attempted to be examined with a qualitative approach and an analytical and explanatory method (Method), is: The alignment between the United States and religious fundamentalism has led to the rise of Golani and the removal of Assad in Syria, and the rise of the Taliban and the removal of the republican system in Afghanistan, as well as increased tension in the region. This has led to increased awareness and insight among currents relying on the Islamic Awakening; America's alignment with religious fundamentalist movements has not been done to combat extremism, but rather to create destabilize the region, and prevent the formation of an independent Islamic discourse against the global liberal capitalist order (Findings)

بیداری اسلامی در عصر استبداد: روایت مقاومت‌های حوزه قم در برابر شبه مدرنیسم پهلوی

Pages 22-43

Abstract During the Pahlavi dynasty, some of the government's pseudo-modernization policies were based on laws that contradicted Islamic law. In this secular atmosphere, the Qom Seminary, in accordance with the existing conditions and capacities, adopted various methods to nullify these laws or prevent the implementation of government policies. From the time of the re-establishment of the seminary by Ayatollah Haeri until the death of Ayatollah Boroujerdi in 1961, although there was clear and open resistance from the seminary's clergy and religious authorities to these policies, there were also some seemingly conservative approaches. Approaches that may be interpreted as a form of tolerance, compromise, or cautious coexistence with the state. The historical narrative of this confrontation and the analysis of the diverse strategies of resistance of the Qom region against the political domination of the state are the main issues of this research. Approaches that may be interpreted as a form of tolerance, compromise, or cautious coexistence with the government. The historical narrative of this confrontation and the analysis of the diverse strategies of resistance in the Qom region against the political domination of the government are the main issues of this research. (Problem) The main question is how to explain the resistance strategies of the Qom region against the anti-religious decisions and actions of the Pahlavi monarchy. (Question) This article was conducted using a historical-documentary method and within the framework of James Scott's "hidden narrative" theory. (Method) The findings show that the Qom seminary, as an institution of cultural awakening and resistance, was able to maintain its institutional independence and religious legitimacy during a period when the government limited the capacity for open opposition by adopting diverse resistance strategies. These everyday resistances, although seemingly small and limited, gradually contributed to the erosion of the government's legitimacy and paved the way for broader social changes in the future. Pages 44-67

narges ansari

Abstract The story of the Thorn and the Clove can be called a historical book in which the author seeks to present a close and realistic picture of the various aspects of the life of the Palestinian people at the time of the narrative, economic, cultural, social life and most importantly the picture of the struggle and resistance of the Palestinians against the occupation, a struggle that, with the Gaza Strip as the central point of the narrative, like history, has witnessed many ups and downs, but never stops. Understanding the realism of the work, which is narrated in the language of one of the senior resistance commanders in Palestine, this article attempts to explain the evolution of the resistance in Palestine from the perspective of a Palestinian in the field for readers, relying on the method of description and analysis, and to explain the factors affecting the changing process of the struggle. Based on this research and considering the author's way of portraying and characterizing, struggle and resistance are the only solution to the Palestinian issue, and compromise and negotiation are issues that Sinwar challenges in his narrative. From his point of view, the struggle of the people over the decades has not followed a linear path under the influence of various factors, but has undergone ups and downs due to internal and external conditions.

Poetry and Symbolism, Representation of Islamic Awakening and Resistance: A Semiotic Analysis of Two Qasidas by Tamim Al-Barghouthi

Pages 68-94

Ghader Pariz

Abstract In contemporary literature, the use of symbols as a means of indirectly expressing thoughts, emotions, and stimulating feelings and ideas—particularly in political and social contexts—has become remarkably widespread. This approach, which began in the second half of the nineteenth century, has paved the way for engaging the reader's mind in the process of reading. Among contemporary poets who have adeptly utilized this potential is Tamim Al-Barghouti; by employing religious symbols in his poetry, he has succeeded in creating new and interpretable imagery. This research adopts a semiotic analysis approach, gathering data through library research, and employs a descriptive-analytical method to examine the symbols in two of Al-Barghouti’s notable poems: "Amir al-Mu'minin" and "Safinat Nuh" . In the first poem, the poet meticulously uses symbolism to reconstruct the image of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in the form of the "Commander of the Faithful"—a figure symbolizing steadfastness, wise leadership in the resistance movement, and Islamic unity. In the second poem, the same figure is represented through the imagery of Noah’s Ark—a symbol emphasizing his redemptive and salvific role for the Islamic nation. The findings of this study reveal that Al-Barghouti, through the systematic use of religious symbols, has been able to articulate political and social concepts in an artistic and thought-provoking manner. These symbols not only convey the poet’s messages but also invite the reader to actively interpret and decode them.

Abstract Cinema and film have always been regarded as one of the most significant platforms of art and media, influencing various cultural domains, including political culture. Among the indicators of a society's political culture are the slogans used during different periods to express support for or opposition to individuals, groups, political parties, or political systems. This article aims to explore the role of art and media in the Islamic Awakening in Egypt by examining the revolutionary slogans during the Islamic Awakening and their connection to the cinematic films released in Egypt (the issue). To achieve this objective, a descriptive-analytical method has been employed. By analyzing over 30 cinematic films and comparing them with the prevalent slogans of the Islamic Awakening in Egypt (the method), it has been concluded that art and media in general, and cinematic films in particular, played a fundamental role in the Islamic Awakening in Egypt, becoming an inseparable part of it. Film, as one of the most important artistic and media products, has been able to significantly influence the political culture of the Egyptian people. A considerable number of slogans from the 2011 Islamic Awakening in Egypt are indebted to the titles, narratives, or dialogues of films released in Egypt (the findings).

Abstract In the past few decades, the most important factor influencing the evolution of Iran's geopolitical situation, which has formed the basis of Iran's interactions with global and regional powers, has been the ideas of the Imams of the Revolution. Also, after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic resistance, by utilizing the intellectual system of Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) and Imam Khamenei (may God protect him), has led to the formation of a resistance front in the West Asian region centered on the Islamic Republic of Iran. (Problem); This article, using a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to answer the question of how the defense-security thought of the Imams of the Revolution has affected the spread of the Islamic Revolution and the progress of the resistance front? (Question and Method); The results indicate that the defense-security thought of the Imams of the Revolution emphasizes, above all, the active and dynamic nature of the resistance. The defense-security thought of the Imams of the Revolution, not only as a theory, but also as an operational roadmap, has been the main factor in changing the balance of power in the West Asian region in favor of the resistance front. By providing a security paradigm, this thought has led to the continuity, cohesion, and continuous progress of this front against hostile coalitions. (Results);
