The Role of Persian Language and Literature in the Expansion of the Ideals of Islamic Awakening in the Islamic World

Batoul Alizadeh Mahani

Abstract Amidst the rapid cultural and political transformations witnessed in the Islamic world, examining the role of Persian language and literature in elucidating and promoting the ideals of Islamic Awakening has become a vital necessity. The research method is based on a descriptive-analytical and comparative approach; through the study of historical and contemporary sources, analysis of seminal literary texts, and the developmental review of the concept of Islamic Awakening within the framework of Persian literature, an explanatory framework for the research has been presented. The findings indicate that Persian language and literature, far beyond being mere instruments of transmission, have, as a network of meanings and civilizational discourses, played a pivotal role in reviving Islamic identity, strengthening the spirit of resistance, and propagating ideals of justice-seeking and unifying values. This function is tangibly evident both in classical texts—by reflecting such elements as awakening, greater jihad, and the call to rebuild collective identity—and in contemporary works, through resistance literature, translation, and the development of Persian-language media. Based on data analysis, the interactive and intercultural capacity of Persian is appraised as an outstanding tool for reinforcing unity, intellectual dynamism within the Islamic Ummah, and responding to the civilizational challenges of the new era.

Explaining the Role of the Mosque in Realizing Governance Based on Islamic Awakening from the Perspective of Martyr Qassem Soleimani: With a Focus on His World Mosque Day Address

Faride Amini, fathiyeh fattahizadeh, Fateme Mianmahalle

Abstract This study examines the role of the “Constructive Mosque” (Masjid-e Sazandeh) in realizing governance based on Islamic Awakening through the statements of Martyr Qassem Soleimani. Since the rise of Islam, the mosque has served as a central institution in the formation, preservation, and advancement of Islamic governance.Accordingly, identifying its functions can help recover its capacity for contemporary governance.Using thematic analysis, this research analyzed the available discourse of Martyr Soleimani on the mosque. After coding and categorizing the data, basic, organizing, and global themes were extracted. Among the available materials, his “World Mosque Day” speech was selected as the primary text because it contains the clearest and most concentrated themes related to the subject. The findings show that the “Constructive Mosque,” as the study’s global theme, is an institution capable of renewing Islam and society in accordance with the aims of the Islamic Awakening. Its governing functions can be summarized in four major dimensions: first, promoting unity and Ummah-building as the basis for a cohesive Islamic nation; second, revitalizing religious identity and values in order to strengthen the public presence of religion; third, providing civilizational immunity and cadre-building through the attraction and formation of committed and aware forces; and fourth, securing society and defending ideals by nurturing defenders against falsehood. In Soleimani’s thought, the mosque is therefore a strategic institution linking religion, society, and politics and enabling the realization of desirable Islamic governance.

Resistance Theory in the Islamic Awakening Discourse: Jurisprudential, Theological Foundations, and Strategic Dimensions from the Perspective of Imam Khomeini (RA) and Ayatollah Khamenei (RA)

Mahmoud Ghasemi Ghale Bahman, Ali karami, Hossein Ajorloo

Abstract The central question of this study is: upon what theological and jurisprudential foundations, with an emphasis on Shi'a political jurisprudence and the views of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei, is the theory of resistance within the discourse of Islamic Awakening based, and what are its strategic dimensions? The study aims to elucidate the nature, foundations, and strategic dimensions of resistance theory. Using a descriptive-analytical approach and discourse analysis, data were collected through library research. The study examines the etymological and conceptual dimensions of resistance, its theological and jurisprudential foundations, and its practical manifestations. Findings indicate that resistance, derived from the Arabic root q-w-m, signifies standing firm against aggression and involves four elements: the resisting actor, aggressor, act of resistance, and preservation of identity. In Shi'a political jurisprudence, resistance extends beyond military defense and, based on nafy al-sabil (negation of alien domination), the obligation of defense, enjoining good and forbidding evil, and safeguarding the integrity of Islam (baydat al-Islam), encompasses political, economic, and cultural spheres. Its theological foundations include divine sovereignty, rejection of Taghut, and adherence to Divine Guardianship (Wilayat). In the thought of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei, resistance constitutes both a religious duty and a strategic approach to preserving Islamic identity and confronting hegemonic domination. Its strategic dimensions include identity formation, Islamic unity, support for the oppressed, comprehensive deterrence, and development of a resistance discourse.

Islamic Awakening and the Formation of a Seven Hundred-Year-Old Civilization in Andalusia

Abstract Civilization, as an objective social phenomenon, is the product of an underlying system of thought. Civilizational ideas unify diverse schools of thought under a singular identity, paving the way for the civilization's inception and flourishing. The creation of civilization is one of the most significant functions of the Holy Quran. Grounded in a monotheistic perspective, the Quranic civilizational elements fostered a new Islamic civilization in Al-Andalus; beyond providing fundamental guidelines for scientific advancement, this civilization—through a comprehensive educational framework—cultivated human intellect and understanding. By embracing the teachings of Islam and the Holy Quran, monotheistic currents in the Iberian Peninsula laid the groundwork for a deeply rooted civilization, transforming Al-Andalus into a hub of scientific, intellectual, and philosophical excellence for seven centuries—to the extent that Islamic Al-Andalus became the gateway through which civilization entered Europe. This article examines the intellectual currents prevailing in Spain prior to the Islamic conquest, the evolution of religious thought in the Iberian Peninsula, the story of a grassroots revolutionary movement, and the role of the Islamic awakening in shaping this new civilization in the Islamic West.
